Quarantine centres are being opened in Poland for Ukrainian workers.

The quarantine centres are primarily needed for workers who temporarily left for Ukraine even before the Polish borders were closed and are now trying to return to work.  This solution became necessary with the introduction of quarantine in Poland, caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the closure of the Ukrainian-Polish border. Many industries are already suffering from a shortage of workers.

International outsourcing company Gremi Personal has launched two quarantine centres in Gdansk and Lodz for its Ukrainian employees.

"The quarantine centres are mainly needed for our employees who temporarily left for Ukraine even before the border was closed and are now trying to return to work. The centres are also needed for Ukrainian citizens who have permission to work in Poland, but simply do not know how to enter because they do not understand where they will be quarantined," explained Tomasz Bogdevic, CEO of Gremi Personal.

He stressed that Polish business is currently in urgent need of labour from Ukraine. The food industry, manufacturing companies, logistics warehouses, grocery shops, agricultural companies - all these sectors have already started to feel the shortage of workers.

During the quarantine period, in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Poland of 17.03.2020, Polish citizens, foreigners holding the Card of the Pole, foreigners holding a permanent residence permit in Poland and foreigners holding a work permit in Poland may enter the territory of Poland. However, a prerequisite for entry for all of the aforementioned groups is the completion of a 14-day quarantine.
